OBIT: Jose Antonio Funes Sr.

MISSION - Jose Antonio Funes Sr., 59, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Solara Hospital in McAllen. He was born on August 29, 1951 in San Benito.

Mr. Funes was preceded in death by his parents, Jose R. and Maria C. Funes, and a brother, Jose De La Cruz.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Borrego Funes; sons, John Anthony Funes, Jose Antonio Funes Jr., and Julio Andres Funes; siblings, Felix (Patsy) Funes, Michelle (Ray) Gallegos, Mary Ann Baca, Julia (Sam) Garcia, Jimmy Funes, Theresa (Ernie) Gomez, Clara (Jim) Dixon, Alice (Joe) Sena, Ray (Rose-Fiance) Funes, Angela (Louie) Franco, Eva (Mark) Clark, and Monica Salazar; and two grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be held Monday, August 8, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Mission.
