OBIT: Pablo Fidel Navarro

MISSION - Pablo Fidel "PF/Chief" Navarro Jr., 71, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at McAllen Medical Center.

He grew up in Laredo, and after graduating, he joined the U. S. Navy, where he spent 24 years, and obtained the rank of Chief E7.  Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for the Hidalgo County Sherriff's Department for 16 years where he was awarded the Medal of Valor, and eight years at the Hidalgo County Constable Department Pct. #3 as assistant chief. He also spent 12 years on the Mission Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board of The Mission Housing Authority.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fidel and Mariana Navarro, and brothers, Candelario and Jose F. Navarro.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Irene G. Navarro of Mission; children, Rosa Maria Palacios of Mission, Patricia L. Navarro of Mission, Gracela Emma (Rene) Vela Sr. of Mission, Victor Fidel (Ana Lillia) Navarro Jr. of Mission, Cindy (Gustavo Jr.) Gonzalez of Mission, and Jaime Javier (Marissa) Navarro of Mission; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria Jovita Ramirez, Francis Rodriguez, Dolores Garza, Librada Villanueva, and Diana Suess; and a brother Apolinar Navarro.

The funeral mass will be held June 29 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
