OBIT: Sergio Javier Villarreal

HOUSTON/MISSION – Sergio Javier Villarreal, 67, entered eternal rest peacefully at home in Houston.

Mr. Villarreal was born in Monclova Coahuila on December 3, 1943 to Romeo Villarreal and Yolanda Durand.  He was a mason and belonged to Luz de Oriente #64. He was a HAM radio operator with the Aguilas Internasionales de Houston; his handle was Aguila 4 and Cuatro Pelos. He was a painter by trade, employed by TEKO Contractors for 20 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Ernestina G. Villarreal of Mission; sons, Sergio Villarreal Jr. of Mission and Jose Villarreal of Houston; daughters, Sara Y. Reyes of Georgia, Sylvia L. (Franklin) Taylor of McAllen, and Sandra Villarreal (Shane Creager) of Mission; brother, Jose Olegario Vega; sisters, Yolanda Thompson, Argelia (Ramiro) Hinojosa, Romelia (Baldemar) Olivares, Irma (Ciro) Chavez, and Martha (Elisar) Zuniga; and nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ernestina Villarreal; mother-in-law, Herminia Aguilar; nephew, Fred Thompson: and brother-in-law Hubert Thompson Sr.

A church service will be held Friday, April 29, at Palm Valley Church at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Valley Memorial Gardens where his remains will be laid to rest with his mother.
