OBIT-Ward Lynn Skinner

EDINBURG/MISSION - Ward Lynn Skinner, age 61, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his residence in Mission.

Born in Edinburg to Frank W. and Shirley Skinner, he graduated from PSJA High School in 1970. After graduating from the University of Houston in 1974, he attended Commonwealth Institute of Mortuary Science in Houston graduating as a funeral director in 1975 where he was a third generation funeral director. He also was president and oversaw the daily operations of Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg.

A former member of the Edinburg Rotary Club, he served as a past president in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Renee Skinner of Mission; children, Mike Skinner of Mission, Somer Skinner King of Bryan, Marci Skinner Levings of Corpus Christi and Jared Sergeant of San Antonio; sister, Sandy Propst of Edinburg; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Skinner-Silva Funeral Home in Pharr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home with Dr. Mark Rotramel officiating. A private interment will be held for the family at a later date.
