MISSION - Julio Vela, 80, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 in McAllen.
Mr. Vela was a lifelong resident of Mission. He was a Korean War Veteran and worked for Mission Auto Electric for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55, years, Rosario Alvarado Vela; son, (Ret.) Lt. Col. Julio A. Vela of Chicago; sisters Ofilia Vela Reyna and Amelia Vela Schmidt; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Interment will follow at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
