PORTER – Herbert Clinton Jeffries Jr., 82, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 in Porter.
Mr. Jeffries was born March 19, 1930 in Ferris, and was raised in Mission where his family opened the first pharmacy in 1909 and he continued as pharmacist until 1990. He served his country in the Korean War as a Navy Corpman with the 1st Marine Division. He was a founding member of an M.V.P.A Chapter in Mission.
Herbert is survived by his son, Herbert C. Jeffries III; daughter, Cathy Forray; and four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Jeffries, and parents, Genevieve and Herbert Jeffries Sr.
Visitation will be held, Friday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of a service at 12 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home Porter. There will be local visitation on Monday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Ric Brown Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
