SULLIVAN CITY - Minerva M. Ruiz, 67, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 after a two-year battle against pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. Ruiz was born January 31, 1945 in Rio Grande City to Abel Martinez and Maria Elvia Rodriguez. She was a registered nurse at M.D. Anderson in Houston, McAllen Medical Center, the La Joya ISD and Mission Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Reynaldo Ruiz; sister, Eldemira Obregon; brothers, Ruben Martinez, Abel Martinez, Sandalio Martinez, and Joel Martinez.
She is preceded in death in death by her father and her brothers, Rene and Noel Martinez.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 23, from 2 to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Lord and I Funeral Home chapel in Penitas. The funeral mass will held on Tuesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sullivan City. Interment will follow at Havana Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Cesar Martinez, Rudy Ruiz, Jessie Ramirez, Sandalio Marintez Jr., Ruben Martinez Jr., and Oved Zamora. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Tyler Ayala, Michael Alexander Murillo, Rafael Ojeda, Rey Navarro, Edward Bell and Hector Contreras.
