MISSION - Arnoldo Villarreal, 53, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at Solara Hospital in Edinburg after battling brain cancer for 22 months.
Mr. Villarreal was born on September 13, 1958 to Adelaido A. Villarreal Sr. and Maria Olaya Loya Villarreal in Mission. He served with the military police in the U.S. Army from 1978-1981 and later worked for 21 years at Agua S.U.D until his retirement in 2011.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sandra Ann Villarreal; daughters, Olaya Marie Molina, Audra Annette Hernandez, Amy Lee Villarreal and Adeliza Villarreal; son, Arnoldo Villarreal Jr.; brothers, Dr. Adelaido A. Villarreal Jr., Aguinaldo Villarreal and Abelardo Villarreal; sisters, Ana Lisa Flores, Ana Dalia Oliveira, Amanda Zamora, Abelina Hernandez and Angelina Garcia; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Villarreal was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Olaya Loya Villarreal.
The funeral mass was held July 18 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya. Burial followed at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers were Adelaido Villarreal Jr., Aguinaldo Villarreal, Abelardo Villarreal, Leo Najo Zamora, Johnn Valente Alaniz and Eleud Alaniz. Honorary pallbearers were Juan Cantu, Valente Alaniz Jr., Rolando Jack Alaniz, Jose Antonio Molina, Jack Rolando Alaniz, Valente Alaniz III and Mario Omar Hernandez.
