MISSION - William "Bill" A. Devine, 85, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Devine in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Birmingham. He was a decorated war veteran and received the Purple Heart and was involved in 11 major engagements in the South Pacific.
Mr. Devine owned a mechanic shop for 20 years in Mission. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 1402.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, a brother and six children by a previous marriage.
Visitation will be held at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 19, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home at 1 p.m. A burial with full military honors follows at 2 p.m. at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery.
