MISSION — Margarita Mercado, 91, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at her residence in Mission.
Survivors include her children Julia M. Cantu, Adelfa M. Luna, Juan Y. Mercado, Gilberto Y. Mercado, Elida Mercado, Oscar Y. Mercado, Ricardo Y. Mercado, Norma Hilda M. Lozano, Samuel Y. Mercado, Raquel M. Santana, Alicia M. Charles and Adan Mercado; sisters, Juanita Garza and Florendia Yanez; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Mercado Sr.; and children, Eva Mercado, Amado Mercado, Manuel Mercado Jr., Raul Mercado, Hector Mercado and Maria M. Garza.
A funeral Mass was held Feb. 2 at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment followed at San Jose Cemetery in Abram.
