OBIT: Estella Farias Vela

ALTON — Estella Farias Vela, 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at her residence in Alton. She was born to Santos and Maria Farias in Mission on Jan. 15, 1928.

Survivors include her husband, Carlos Vela; children, Juan Antonio Vela, Maria Estella Sandoval, Jesus Vela, Ricardo Vela, Roberto Vela, Eduardo Vela, Joel Vela, Maria Elena Garcia, Maria Elva Peña, Maria Eliza Lopez, Jaime Vela, Maria Elia Colorado, and Maria Elma Ramos; sister, Maria Guadalupe Mercado; and 34 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jose Carlos; and brothers, Reynaldo, Ramiro, Ruben and Raul Farias.

The funeral Mass was held Jan. 30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
