MISSION –Amelia Cantu Femat passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011. Born on Oct. 3, 1913 to Tomas and Maria Del Refugio Cantu, she had lived most of her life in Mission.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and an active member of the Damas Catholicas.
She is survived by her children, Rebeca F. Velasco, Carlos Felipe Femat, Dora Femat de la Garza, and Ruben Femat; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlos Femat; and siblings, Elsa Garcia, Guadalupe Guzman, Raquel Gonzalez, Juan Jose Cantu, and Tomas Cantu Jr.
A funeral Mass was held Dec. 20 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission. Services were under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
