MISSION - Sila V. Juarez, 92, passed away at Mission Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011. She was born in La Grulla on September 25, 1919 to Ramon and Irene Vera.
Sila enjoyed cooking and gardening, but her passion was sewing, a talent that was appreciated by her family and friends. She was a strong and courageous woman who instilled values and education to her family. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Casimiro Juarez; children Joel (Leonor) Juarez, Idee (Noe) Cruz, and Marivel Juarez; grandchildren, Jessica Elizabeth Juarez, Joel C. (Sarah) Juarez II; great-grandson Nico Juarez; siblings, Elida Garza, Medardo Vera, Irene Guerrero, and Rolando Vera.
Preceding her in death were her parents; siblings, Saulo Vera, Ramon Vera Jr., Hector Vera, Humberto Vera, and Eleazar Vera; and grandchildren, Jose Javier Cruz and Amanda Lizette Cruz.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Holy Rosary in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
