MISSION - William "Bill" Lee Mainzer of Mission died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the age of 70 years.
Mr. Mainzer was born in 1941 to the late Ben and Edith (Nalley) Mainzer and was a lifelong resident of Sharyland. He was married for 47 years to his love and eternal companion, Freddie Janet Kell Mainzer, and together they raised two loving daughters. He was retired from various positions in the oil industry.
He will be forever in the hearts of his daughters, Kellie Zoe Wayda (Dan) of Harrisburg, PA and Leslie Lynn Walker (Wayne) of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Ethan Daniel Wayda and Ellen "Ellie" Mainzer Walker; sisters, Marjorie (T.E.) Sharp of Mission and Christine (Steve) Merriman of Kingsville; and many nieces and nephews.
“Papa" Bill was loved by both young and old alike for his kind and caring ways by always giving of his time, attention, and help. He was devoted to the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church of McAllen and formerly Conway Avenue Baptist Church. His daughters and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He enjoyed evening walks with his dog, Angel, and working in his yard and garden.
A memorial service was held at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home on Sept. 24.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of McAllen Children's Ministry.
