20110714_Tarbutton-Arista-Arraignment_Kimmon-Murder_CAB_0026MISSION — Mission police have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the death of Willis Kimmons.

David Tarbutton Jr., 19 and Leroy Arista, 23, were charged with capital murder. Their bonds were set at $5 million each.

Peggy Arista, Leroy’s mother, was also arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.

Retired U.S. Border Patrol Agent Willis Kimmons, 86, was found dead in his home early Tuesday evening.

Police were called out to the victim’s home on the 200 block of West 2 Mile Line Road after a neighbor noticed the garage door and interior door were left open, which was unusual of the neighbor, said authorities.

Kimmons was found dead lying in his bed with a book in his hand, police said. According to the autopsy, the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the face.

An ongoing investigation, authorities said there were signs of burglary at the home. Investigators on Wednesday were looking for evidence at the scene and around the area.

“We expect to bring this crime to justice,” Mission Police Spokesman Sgt. Jody Tittle said.

Officials have given full details on Kimmons death and how one of the suspects knew Kimmons. The in depth story will be in next week’s issue of the Progress Times.
