South Texas College Theatre has announced auditions next week for its October 2013 production of Philip Grecian’s adaptation of Mary Wollstencraft Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” Auditions will be held Sept. 3 to 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. at STC’s Cooper Center for Communication Arts Black Box Studio, 3201 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.
Call backs will be held at the same time and location on Sept. 5. All STC and Valley community members, age 18 and over, are welcome to audition.
Upon graduating from the university, and with the help of a friend, Victor Frankenstein sets out to create life-corpses stolen from graveyards. During a raging storm, he is successful, but too late, realizes he has created a misshapen, inarticulate horror. And, so begins a tale of creature vs. creator in a 1940’s-style radio drama where actors and foley artists share the stage.
A cold reading from the script will be made available at the audition. The director, Joel Jason Rodriguez, is looking for a cast of at least 10—six men and four women—who can portray multiple characters.
The stage performance is scheduled for Oct. 17 to 20 at the Cooper Center for Communication Arts Main Stage.
