The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Harlequins have scheduled public performances of their district and regional winning, state-qualifying one act play. The troupe will perform “The Circus Animals’ Desertion,” by Don Nigro. The play is set in the 1940s and is an eerie story of a young lady who leaves a trail of chaos.
The performances will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 4:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 each.
This is the second year in a row the Harlequins have advanced to state-level UIL competitions and only the second time since 1935 a one act play from the Mission CISD has made it to state. At the state competition, the Harlequins placed seventh. Alex Hinojosa earned an All-Star Cast medal for his performance there.
